The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how vulnerable our supply chains are to disruption, with resilience now the key focus as we prepare for an increasingly uncertain future. In view of this challenge, Innovate UK has co-funded the KnowRisk consortium which is developing an open platform to support more robust, transparent, and agile supply chains. The £2.06m project will show how risk, both inside a business and across the supply chain, can be measured, mitigated, and insured in real-time through the use of the latest privacy-preserving AI, computable contracting, and distributed ledger technologies. Lloyd’s of London, the world’s leading specialist insurance and reinsurance market, is supporting the consortium through its global innovation programme.

Today’s announcement shows a commitment to build a more resilient economy after the hit we have taken from COVID. At present, 75% of businesses say that supply chain insurance is insufficient with 43% of losses remaining uninsured. As we build back better, this platform shows how we can create permanent capacity in our supply chains ensuring critical medicines, food, and goods are delivered, allowing us to maintain and improve our industries, institutions, and way of life. ” Lord Wei of Shoreditch

The consortium includes: Sweetbridge – A computable contracting platform, providing trustworthy data with DLT technology. Engine B – A cross-sector enterprise enabling corporate data access born out of Big Four accounting. Digital Catapult – The UK’s leading advanced digital technology innovation centre. CyStellar – An AI platform that supports insurance underwriting and claims with geo-spatial data. Intelligent AI – An AI company automating the analysis of insurance risk reports.

Invitation: KnowRisk, supported by Lloyd’s of London, AI for Services and ktn, and Digital Catapult, and are running a series of events discussing the management of business disruption risk, starting on 6 October. For more information please contact Jason Cresswell.

Stockholm, Sweden, August 3, 2017 – IoT Sweden, the Swedish Sigfox radio network operator for the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced a global partnership with CyStellar, a big-data solution company, representing another step forward in maximizing the benefits of IoT for precision agriculture applications.

The partnership will combine Sigfox’s network technology that enables simple, low-powered, ultra-low-cost devices to wirelessly connect to the internet with CyStellar’s intelligent data-fusion platform technology to target applications in the area of precision agriculture (crops and farms management, vineyards and wine production, aquaculture and sustainable seafood production) and food safety and traceability.CyStellar offers precision agriculture cloud-based solutions that integrates geo-referenced information from a variety of sources including satellite imagery, drone-based surveillance, weather forecasts, ground-based sensors, and other social, societal, political, and economic information in order to provide actionable intelligence to farmers – large and small – at a reasonable cost. On top of its data fusion platform, CyStellar layers decision support tools for crop management, variable-rate irrigation and fertilization, and pest management by exploiting the power of machine learning, big data and predictive analytics. The goal is to allow farmers to make sound decisions using an intuitive user interface and helpful artificial intelligence-based decision support tools that hide the complexity of the data and the calculations behind the decisions.

Critical to the performance of CyStellar’s agricultural technology (ag-tech) solutions is the ability to disseminate and gather sensor data across all three operating regimes (ground, air, and space). “Through our collaboration with IoT Sweden and Sigfox, we will help the agriculture industry leverage precise IoT field data to optimize critical decisions,”says Peter Bunus, Managing Director and Co-Founder of CyStellar. “The IoT is set to push the future of farming to the next level by offering real time monitoring and 24 hours per day connectivity. IoT Sweden and Sigfox is known for their low-cost, low-power, high reliability and broad coverage of their IoT network, and this partnership offers strong support for our business.”

Commenting on the partnership, Mats Landstedt, CEO of IoT Sweden, added: “This partnership with CyStellar once again illustrates that the IoT space is transforming traditional industry boundaries and value chains. Smart agriculture needs smart insights directly from the field and that’s only possible with IoT connectivity. IoT Sweden and Sigfox’s low-cost and low-power connectivity represents a dramatic shift for companies in the agricultural sector looking to integrate sensing, analytics, and automated control into their business models and operations.”

About IoT Sweden: IoT Sweden is the exclusive Sigfox operator for Sweden, building and operating a nationwide radio network for the Internet of Things with Sigfox world-leading LPWAN connectivity. This will empower Sweden’s IoT market as well as contribute with a full ecosystem of IoT solutions and services to enable the non-connected to connect, increase productivity, accelerate decision making, improve quality of service, or simply solve problems in an economic and connected manner.
